I remember last time one of these ridiculous bond issues was voted on in 2006, someone wrote an editorial in the LSJ enlightening people about where a large portion of the money was really going. All I recall is that it was a prominent woman in the community maybe in the public relations field. She stated what percentage was actually going into pensions and subsidizing health care, etc. My point is - that it was extremely well written and maybe she would do it again. It appeared shortly, maybe 2 weeks or so, prior to the vote.

I think people in this community are snowed into thinking we "need" to pass this or our schools will become antiquated. I think it's simply a front to get more money funneled into other areas...likes pensions and health care. Most employees of the MEA know their benefits are better than those of us have who work in private industry and they don't want people to really know that. Their benefits package is what ours was in the 70s and 80s before the health care crisis. The rest of us are all paying higher premiums and co-pays but they, for whatever reason, think they're entitled to continue on with a "free lunch" when it comes to health care. This has got to stop!!

I hope you can get an editorial in the LSJ stating the real truth. I'll be voting "no".

Good Luck!
