The truth is, that the Montessori snafu is a financial and public relations disaster. It looks like we wouldn't be in the mess that we're in if the board hadn't stridently supported the development and opening of this expensive school. I can't even understand the mentality of people would want private schooling at the public expense.
If I didn't believe public school was good enough for my children, I would pay the tuition for private school, period. And yes, Mary, I WOULD get a second job to do so.
People are generous to a fault here in Okemos. But they aren't stupid.
We must show our board that we cannot condone the misuse of our taxpayer dollars any longer. It will be painful and require work, but the board has to stop spending and learn to set a budget and stick to it.
Only when the public says "no more" will these people "get it".
