This web site serves a valuable function, especially for the members of the public who have not already blindly accepted the "Kool Aid" so regularly and generously served up by the OPS propaganda minions.
Today's thought: The Profligate Spending by OPS.It's time for a thorough piece of investigative journalism by the State Journal or Free Press about the waste, fraud, and mismanagement by public school systems. OPS would make a perfect poster child. Does anyone really believe the bond proposal will pass even the most superficial cost/benefit analysis? This ain't about your kids, folks, it's about creature comforts and conveniences for teachers and administrators. New phone system? Give me a break. A private sector employer would make do with the old one-especially since everybody uses email and cell phones anyway. The District knows it can only push through so much in teacher COLA increases, so this is really an "in kind" payment of techno toys for OPS staffers. To sweeten the pot, always throw in some buses and the "safety" angle. Who's kidding who? Look at the High School parking lot. Try Jolly, Hulett, or Bennett Roads just before or just after school. Even antique school buses are safer than the road rally unleashed every school day.
The sales pitch is always the same: If you don't support the bond, you are anti-schools, anti-kids, and, by God, almost un-American. The administrators and principals make no bones about it- parents are best seen (with wallets open), but not heard. Taxation, yes; representation (or at least pointed inquiries), no.
One more thing. The best place to start with the independent audit and investigation of the OPS finances is the travel, entertainment, and miscellaneous portions of the budget, and well as fining the "bodies" buried and hidden elsewhere in your spent dollars.
More later. Let's have a resounding no in May. No more business as usual by these arrogant bureaucrats.
