Well it looks like OPS is gearing up to make its cuts- re: article in the LSJ about the possible demise of "gifted and talented" programs. Does this mean the summer programs?? ??? I thought the only gifted and talented programs in place were at Hiawatha because the parents decided to pay privately for their kids to have Barb Stevens pull their bright ones out of class. It would be a shame to cut the summer programs, but as long as we are being stretched thin with out-of-district kids and Montessori, some of our Okemos kids will have to sacrifice I guess.
Look for OEF to step up its fund raising, to "save the gifted and talented!" I betcha anything a new campaign is already in the works to pull on your heart and purse strings.
Guess that bond tax increase is not enuf.
Oh, and does anyone know just how much money was taken from PTOs to pay for marketing the bond? I thought that was so wrong.
