So, Tom Hopper is distressed over the cuts in the budget. (Today's LSJ article) Just what would these teachers have us do about it? We're paying for their exorbitant health care, and now the Tech bond with all the toys for their classrooms. I don't see any teachers lining up for early retirement or willing to give up any part of their magnificent financial package to "help the children". I don't see smart budgeting, redistricting or closing of small enrollment schools- i.e. Central, or the closing of costly programs which don't make a damn dime for the district. All I see is a group of self-congratulatory idiots who pat themselves on the back for the supposed balance budget. I don't believe for one second that any of these cuts will hurt our kids in the slightest. It is always the way of the administration and teachers to put the fear of God in parents to make them pony up more cash. I believe there will be a new major fundraising effort somehow introduced to the taxpayers in the fall. Your tech bond monies just weren't enough people...start selling those old bikes in the garage on EBAY as our new school board member suggested...but this time, take a vacation, instead.
