Well, interesting, the queen of Okemos has been dethrowned, due to sticky fingers and a thirst for the good life. Even if she is found to be a "victim" of faulty accounting, the new superintendent had better assert her power in the way things are done with money here in the OPS. The public perception is VERY LOOSY-GOOSY, but no one wants to "destroy the schools." Those that do, are rock throwers.

First of all, there should be a limit as to the amount of committees people can "serve" on. It is always the same old officious clan that follow their children from elementary to middle to high school and helicopter over both their offspring and other parents. Maybe if these same people would find something else to do, other people would step up. New blood is in order.

Secondly, the school board/adminstration should do their job and monitor the PTO monies, along with the parents of the schools. No more excuses that the PTOs operate "on their own." That's just bull.

And last, but not least, the new superintendent should look at ways to put Okemos kids first again. We are tired of paying high taxes to benefit out of district kids who belong in their own district, supporting their own schools and neighborhoods. Stealing children for money is just wrong on so many levels.

Will any of this happen?
I won't hold my breath in wait.
